How To Prevent Stock Loss

by admin on August 6, 2009

ADT is a security company providing domestic and commercial alarm systems.  They specialise in supplying and installing customized alarm systems. Each commercial alarm system is professionally installed and comes with a 12-month warranty. The hardware and installation complies with the new British and European standards and is insurance approved and certified. As part of their service, the company offer a free no obligation survey of the premises and a risk assessment.

ADT supplies a number of different security solutions for retail outlets. In particular, they offer a range of sensory products which provide what is known as Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS). Stock losses are of a particular concern to their clients in the retail industry, and as such they have addressed this by offering a range of products that minimise stock losses by customer and staff theft.

A typical EAS system consists of; sensory pedestals, upright constructions placed at either side of the public exit which trigger an alarm if it senses a security tag; security tags or labels fixed to each item in the outlet; detachers to remove the security tags or deactivators to disable the labels and a checkout process to avoid any false alarms.

ADT’s Ultra-Max Acousto-Magnetic technology has been used in its Sensormatic(R) Ultra Exit System. The system consists of an advanced digital signal processor and an audio visual alarm which indicates when a tag comes too close. Other features include wide exit coverage up to 2 metres between pedestals and up to 8 metres from one controller. However, this area can be reduced so the use of merchandising space can be maximized.

In addition, this system can be used to obtain operational information such as traffic counting data and it can be integrated with other existing security devices. This includes CCTV systems, access control systems and burglar alarms. Access control systems can be used in a retail outlet to designate entrances into the building for specific purposes such as a staff only exit or delivery entrance. Therefore integration with access control systems can be used to minimize losses due to thefts by staff.

Pedestal options include those concealed from view. These are often used where space is at a premium. These include the Floor-Max(R) Plus, a unit which is installed in the floor hiding it from view, the Ultra Loop System, which consists of small ranger receivers fitted on either side of the doorway. Pedestals which are visible include the ProMax(R) Plus and Door-Max Plus. Both are fitted either side of the doorframe and their visual presence can act as a deterrent. The Maxcalibur has been specially designed by ADT to be used in checkout aisles and is their most compact detector. It also has the option of a built-in or remote alarm module.

As part of their EAS systems, ADT also supplies hard tags, tamper-resistant pin tacks and detachers. Alternatively, ADT also supplies sensory labels and deactivators. They also offer electronic garment clip alarms. These consist of a cable or wire which is run through a garment sleeve. The alarm will sound if the cable is cut or improperly removed.
